Over the last couple of decades, Lingual Orthodontic treatments have dramatically risen in popularity due to the abundance of worldwide courses and conferences, the large variety of lingual brackets, the improvement in laboratory procedures, updated CAD-CAM technologies and the implementation of 30 years of experience. Yet, most clinicians still assert that the results are not predictable and not as good as seen with the buccal appliance. The reasons are multifactorial, but are mainly attributed to ignorance and the lack of knowledge of the biomechanics limitations of the orthodontic appliances and the importance of treatment planning.
